The Wire-Mesh 3D Art Technique:

My technique consists in superposing several layers of rhomboidal aluminum expanded wire-mesh which I cut by hand and place on a white background.

Expanded wire-mesh is a translucent material. One of its specifications is called "% of open area surface" defining the ratio between the open surface and the surface occupied by the mesh wires, in other words how much light does it let through.

Cutting more or less each of the different layers of mesh provides me with a pallete of different tones of grey, which I use to form the images.

Nowhere is there any drawing or picture, the images are formed solely by the different layers of cut wire-mesh superposed on a white background.
